Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda (/njap/ /zoˈda/ [cream] [mattress]) is a temperate Town located in the Fïzïlt Principality of the City-state of Yastas.

The name Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda was founded by Tsëîv vyim Mɑnktunk, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda has a yearly average temperature of -4°C (25°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 11°C (51°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool -20°C (-4°F). Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda receives an average of 220 cm/y (86 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3256 m (10682 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda was founded durring the late 12th century in spring of the year 1083, by Tsëîv vyim Mɑnktunk. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Tsëîv vyim Mɑnktunk.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the late 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of spacious packed earth streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town is protected by a well-crafted cobblestone fence tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda's frontieer-style defences has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. The locals seem to have responded to their slow downfall by recreating Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda as one of the strictest places imaginable. Everyone’s actions are clearly directed by laws they keep in heart and mind at all times. Orderly byond order is a phrase which the town brings to mind.

Civic Infrastructure

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda's parks.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda's grid is powered by a boiler and turbine based power plant.

They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda's natural decorations nor waterways.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Two or more groups of citizens within Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda hate each other. Their neighbors or the local law have kept things from too-overt violence, but members of the groups will constantly interfere with their rivals and cause whatever misery they can get away with. This hate may spring from recent events, or it may be an inherited spite from old wrongs.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is long in Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda.

The Death Butterfly Swarm near Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves creating small tokens to channel Summoning energies of tier 2 via throat singing.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century a local hero by the name of saved most of the town when a natural disaster struck Mäpt Gæ̈pi-zoda. The recitation of the hero's story remains a popular tavern and fair tale.
